Child Passenger Safety – Car Seat it’s a must

Who among you own’s and uses a car seat for your baby or a booster for your toddler? If your a parent you should be ashamed of yourself for not having one for your child. I usually see photos in Facebook of my friends having their child sitting in front seat and parents not wearing seat belts. Or babies seating at the lap of someone at the backseat without any seatbelt.  You should be a role model to your child and practice proper travel / road safety. Even we say it just a short distance travel buying something from a store or a few blocks away. We should know that accidents happens unexpected. Even your cautious while driving how about the other people not being cautious and careful.

I use a travel system stroller with infant car seat  for my baby that my sister hand me down.  I always make sure that the car seat is properly installed with the car seat belts. I place my baby car seat at the back seat of the driver’s side. So that even while driving I could glance seeing him using the rear view mirror. Avoiding looking at the back just to see what’s he’s doing. Even he’s on the carseat I make it sure that somebody is besides him just being cautious. What is nice with a car seat he has it’s own area. That he can sit or sleep comfortably and safely.

There are different kinds of car seat to choose from and some strollers

  2. Convertable Car Seats – designed for children rear facing from 5 to 40 pounds and 19 to 40 inches and forward facing from 1 year and 20 lbs up to 70 pounds and 34 to 52 inches.

  4. strollers that comes with baby carriers

A infant carrier can be integrated with the stroller and has a stay in car base to create a convenient travel system.

As responsible drivers we should always practice proper safety for yourself and your passenger. Nobody wanted to loose someone they love just because of carelessness and irresponsibility. I know it costly to buy a carseat but you can borrow from a friend that has one that not using  it anymore. I know that here in the Philippines we don’t have a rule that requires our baby or toddlers in car seats / boosters. But it would be nice to implement this like in the States that are very strict about child safety.

There are several brands to choose from like Graco, Aprica, Evenflo, Safety 1st, Chicco, Enfant. You can check out from stores Mothercare, Numa, Baby Company, Ergobaby, ToysRUs. It depends on your budget, lifestyle and comfort of your baby needs. Now I realize that my hand me down travel system stroller already worn down I think I need to look for a new stroller and convertable car seat since my baby is getting bigger.  Try to think what brand should I get that would best suit my baby needs? hmmmm….. Do you have any experience with infant carriers? please share it with me.
