For my fellow car owners whose car been flooded by torrential rains these past few days. Ever car owner should all know what to do once your car had been flooded. Water plus mud and dirt would really ruin your car big time.

Yeah! Yeah! Any car owner would know he needs to bring his car to a safer and higher place. Any one can say that before they had a car but now did not bother to buy one because of flood. What if you need to relocate your whole family and things but you do not have the ride to do that. Having a car is not a burden and calamity like this unpredictable and even your prepared still accidents can happen. You cannot control fire; flood etc. will come unexpected.

Once your car been flooded your engine, electrical system, and interior will be ruin for sure.

  1. Do not attempt to start the car.  Getting water or mud inside your engine once you start your engine would make it worst. To avoid any more damage just has your car towed and a mechanic check-up, cleaning and repair.
  2. Disconnect Battery – To avoid any corrosion in the connector and grounding your car.
  3. Drying your interior. This means removing everything inside your car. The seat, carpet, floor mats, door panels, seat padding and upholstery. Better if you have those vacuum that can suck water would be best. If not put, some towels to absorb that is wet. Open doors
  4. Insurance Coverage – Check if ever you have flood insurance in your policy. If you do not have any flood insurance you are going to pay straight from your pocket all the repairs needed. However, if you have flood insurance you are in luck. If you need flood insurance in the future, you can get one from me. I am a car insurance agent from a much known company.
  5. Check around the wheels and tires. Before attempting to move the car, look for debris lodged around the wheels, brakes and underbody. (Set the parking brake before crawling around the wheels!)
  6. Push to have the car totaled. A flooded car can be expensive due to repairs in the coming months. If you have flood insurance and it a borderline case. Replacing it will cost money, but you may save yourself from some major headaches down the road.
  7. Beware of flood-damaged replacements. Many cars that are totaled due to flooding are simply cleaned up and re-sold. Before buying a used car, have the title checked; words like “salvage” and “flood damage” are red flags. Get a comprehensive history on the car — if the car has been moved from another state and re-titled, the sellers may be trying to hide flood damage.

So better next time to avoid the hassle of having your car flooded. Be early to bring your car to a higher place to avoid being flooded. It is better to add up in your comprehensive insurance also flood. So that you can claim anytime once your car been flooded.

I experienced our car to be flooded before and it is not a happy sight. I always the one that bring our car to the mechanic / electrician for repairs. I am not the kind of driver out there do not even know what kind of oil their cars have. So just know how to drive but when it comes to maintenance, they are complete Zero in knowledge. Having to spend long hours watching and knowing what the problem with your car is can be depressing. It spells only budget of you go to the repairs.

Just want to show that even I am a woman driver I am not those they call “Eh kasi babae ang driver”.

If you need help in getting car insurance with flood insurance I can help you with that. Just email me anytime.

So for my fellow car owners to avoid having hassle your car being ruined by the flood. Do everything you can to bring your car to higher grounds ASAP. No car owner wanted their car to be a flooded car.
