This 2013, the Philippines can be a part of this movement to bring health innovations to life.

Manila, Philippines – From mobile apps to sustainable living infrastructures, individuals across Southeast Asia have demonstrated how they can make a healthy difference through innovations in their respective countries.

In Indonesia, a mobile application for women has been developed to detect the early stages of breast cancer. In Thailand, a mobile health screening service is made available to its increasingly aging population. Meanwhile, in South Korea, a walkway beautification project has been built to ensure the safety of commuters, as well as sustainable living through energy-efficient measures. All these initiatives began as simple ideas, brought to reality by Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA).

Being a health and well-being company, Philips believes that Filipinos are ready for change, especially when it comes to overall health and well-being. “Philips has always been focused in offering products and services that help improve people’s quality of life. This time, however, we want to go a notch higher, by involving the society in coming up with actionable innovations that can create lasting positive change,” said Fabia Tetteroo-Bueno, Country Manager of Philips in the Philippines.

Philips is launching an innovations campaign in the Philippines, to identify possible solutions for three crucial areas that need immediate attention: the creation of livable cities, promoting proper nutrition among families, and providing easier access to quality healthcare solutions. “This campaign leverages on the Filipinos’ willingness to help, and their sheer motivation to do their part in making the country a better place to live in despite the odds,” said Tetteroo-Bueno.

The Philips innovations campaign will be open to submissions to Filipinos beginning September 23, 2013. For more information about the campaign, please visit the Philips Facebook page
