Sanib Pwersa : Art & Nature at The Block

Philippine Bonsai Society in partnership with SM Supermalls as their venue to showcase and promote about Bonsai. There will be exhibits, shows, events and workshops by both local and international bonsai experts.

This coming March 22-25, 2019 will be featuring Sanib Pwersa: Art & Nature at The Block Atrium, SM North Edsa Quezon City, Philippines.  The biggest Bonsai workshop event that will feature over 200 Bonsai trees, suiseki viewing stones and ikebara creations.

Featuring the following experts:

Master Kunio Kobayashi (Japan) – World-famous’ Bonsai master who runs a school and museum in Tokyo’s Edogawa ward. Kobayashi has more than 200 apprentices and international students studying and following his advice. For already more than 20 years he represents his skills during lectures in over 20 countries around the world, including the Philippines.

Prof Amy Liang (Taiwan) – A legendary Bonsai master. She has dedicated most of her time and energy to the cultivation and promotion of bonsai art over the past five decades, which won her the reputation as a highly respected bonsai master. Due to her tremendous contribution to the international bonsai community and her compassion to other people and her art, she is highly revered by people in bonsai circles in Taiwan and abroad. She was born into a respected family in northern Taiwan and married a prominent gynecologist/obstetrician before becoming an internationally renowned bonsai master. She also runs the “Amy Liang Bonsai Museum”, located in Taipei and boasts an excellent and varied collection of Bonsai masterpieces.

Master Yen Zi-jing (Taiwan) – One of Taiwan’s few Bonsai masters. He owns Bonsai World in a mountainous district in the north of Taipei called Beitou, Taiwan.

Master Wu Zian Zhang (Taiwan) – He was the Secretary General and Adviser of National Bonsai Judgment Association of Taiwan. He also was a Committee Member and Director-General of the Taiwan Bonsai judgment Society. He was a technical adviser Taiwan Banyan Bonsai Association. He has been invited several times to Manila to give demonstration on Bonsai Convention. He got Hua-Feng Awards of NBAT in 1999, 2001, and 2002. Currently, he is the Director of NBAT.

Dr. Tom Elias (USA) – He is the former director of the US National Arboretum. He will deliver an in depth talk of his personal stone collection and Suiseki. The practice of viewing stone appreciation, also known as Suiseki Stones in Japan, dates back to Ancient China and is still practiced today. He is also the author, coauthor and editor of 12 books and 145 scientific papers or scientific divulgation material. Two examples: “The complete trees of North America” (2000); “Field Guide to North American Trees not forgetting the long history of the introduction and establishment of bonsai in the western world in last centuries.

Dr. Jun Balderama (Philippines) – One of the leading ikebana personalities in the Philippines. He can make converts out of people who once thought flower arrangements were too feminine for their home or office. Ikeban: Fitting flowers to a particular room or space requires untold consideration and patience. The end result is a seamless adornment, a unity of purpose that blends the flower arrangement with the room and even extends to the entire house.
