Makati, Philippines – Sept 22, 2012 : I attended the Pinoy Blogfest 3.0 at Alphaland Southgate Tower where its an annual event hosted by Gadget Magazine. This is where Good Blog award. The event starts at 1:00pm to 8pm. One of the highlights of the event of course is the raffle for the attendees. Lucky me I was picked to win a Edifier speakers. I am very thankful from the event that I attended and all my efforts even it was raining so hard. It also a good timing coz I currently don’t have any speakers with my prehistoric computer. hehehe!!! Never had the difficulty in bringing the speakers home even with strong rain because I brought my car to the event. But by the time we arrived home my son was so eager to open up and try out the Edifier speakers. With dismay we found out it was missing some items like the volume control, power plug, audio plug and the manual. Also some of the plastic wrap of the items are already missing. So how in the world we can test it. My son just remembered that he saw the Edifier staff was packing a box of speakers with plastic wrap and he thinks is the one that we got. He also remembered that there is a display at their booth with the same speakers.
Its a good thing that I had the contact email from the event and told that the price is missing some items. They forwared my email to the Edifier distributor to coordinate with them. They texted me that they will replace the unit but I need to bring the one I have to organizer/host place coz they are the one held the event. So I have no other option and to bring and get the replacement at Philam Quezon City. We had the hard time in finding the place and of course I had to bring my car its hard to commute with a big box of speakers.
Ok we returned and got the new replacement. So now we opened the sealed replacement at home and installing to my computer. Yes it has all the items inside the box but sub is not working at all. Hey how hard can it be to make a speakers work. Again I texted the Edifier contact and told the problem. He told me is very unlikely to new speakers that won’t work. Yeah! But what can we do about it not working at all. I’m a I.T graduate and I know hardware and software so I know what’s working or not. Its not even a wireless speakers to complicate things its just a sub and 2 speakers. I am just pissed off of the the idea this is the 2nd unit and going to the place even in bad weather and out of my route.
So they called me that if I could bring it to their service center at Chino Roces Makati to have it checked and update them in the feedback from their service center. So again I need to bring my car with me just to bring the speaker at Makati. I hate going to Makati due to its one ways streets and traffic coming from my place. I just usually commute going to Makati if I need to attend an event.
We had a hard time looking for the place and there’s no parking. The parking is just along the street and it was full so we have to wait for a while. Alas! someone left and we got parking space. Now this is the moment we are waiting for. We brought the speakers in the service center and we asked for the person that we are told to look for. She called for the technician and we told that its not working. At the end it was confirmed that the Edifier speakers is BUSTED.
Yes they will replace the unit but the sad part of it they asked us in where we wanted to pickup the unit. They given us locations in where we could claim it and my son selected the Asus Megamall Branch. They can’t release the speaker right then and there. We have no option but to go home with no speakers and need to go to Megamall to claim the 3rd unit and wait from their call.
I am just so frustrated about the idea that a price that I won would give me such headache. To give time, effort and gas for a speakers that it should not be a case 3 strikes your out. If its a new laptop or desktop sometimes have minor problems that I can understand coz I really need to replace my busted computer. I will be willing to do everything just for it. But for a speakers this is insane. Tired of go here and go there bring this bring there. I am just venting my frustration I was to make a review about the speaker I got but what!
I didn’t mentioned any name of persons. For the people has the same experience from other events or contest. Its your right to tell the your concerns about their products and services. So that they can improve and do the necessary precaution next time.
Hopefully this would be the last. Rather spending the time to survey in what laptop or desktop to replace my prehistoric desktop all the attention gone to the speakers. Well what can I do but wait. Got to go now and need to get that good night sleep or I call it morning sleep. hehehe!!! Have a great day to everybody.
