SM Supermalls Grandparents Day!

Here is my “Lola” from my mother side I do not call her “Lola” but “Nanay”. Nanay would say to me that she prefer to be called Nanay so no one would ever know she’s already old and that she already a grandmother.

We would visit her every week when I was still little. I always sneak in her bedroom and look for loose change of 1-peso coins under her bed. The one peso she has is the old and heavy one during the 80’. She will always ask me if I found one already.

“Oh ano nahanap mo na yung tinago ko? Galingan mo at meron pa ako iba bibigay syo.” – Nanay. I would reply “Nanay, Naubos ko na yata lahat. At dami mo gamit sa kwarto mahirap hanapin”

She will laugh aloud and would give me hint’s where did she hid her 1-peso coin. It is like egg hunting but this one is a peso hunting what I call.
Every visit she always knickknacks for us like candies, chips, cornik, and other stuff. It is not much but hey, a week surprise is something to look forward in any child.

In addition, I would make “kulit” to her to make a cup of chocolate drink. She has this old style houses that has sliding capiz windows. and because she live at second floor we would sit down by window and while drinking our hot Choco we would talk about anything we can think of.
I am just lucky that my son get to be with my Nanay. No more piso, no more Knick-knacks every week she is too old to go out and buy something for my son. It is our turn to care and give whatever she needs.

Yes, our grandparents can be grumpy but hey, they still love us. We should spend more time with them and we never know you will be missing them in the future.

Spend time with your elders… While we’re busy growing up, they are growing old.

SM Supermalls wants to spoil your grandparents! Bring lolo and lola to any SM mall from August 25 to September 7, because senior citizens will get special gifts and discounts from certain shops, restaurants and the SM Foodcourt.

Specifically on September 7, The SM Store will give senior citizens a 10% discount for a minimum P1,000 single-receipt purchase of any regular-priced item, as long as they present their senior citizen card with their SM Advantage Card. There’s a priority checkout lane to make shopping easier for seniors as well!
